RSSC EMPLOYEES SHOW SWEETER SIDE

MHLUME – Employees of the Royal Swaziland Sugar Corporation have brought smiles to nursery school children and teachers of Mhlume Inkhulisa by painting the school’s structure.

The sugar company let employees put their tools down for a good course as they visited the pre-school at Mhlume to paint, cook, play and cultivate a garden also situated in the school premises.
A group of about 30 employees from various departments proved that there is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up, which was indeed a success as they revamped the building and left everyone in the nursery school excited.
RSSC Corporate Social Investment Manager Phindile Lukhele-Dlamini said; “The objective of the initiative is to work hand in hand with the employees in uplifting communities. Investing in communities’ forms part of the RSSC culture and is widely understood and supported by employees. Therefore their response to such outreach activities is often overwhelming. This challenges the Public Affairs office to constantly innovate in this regard, whilst some ideas emanate from the employees themselves. ”
Employees at RSSC have been witnessed helping the needy through various initiatives over the past years, from donating clothes, shoes, food to wearing school uniforms themselves as an initiative of commemorating schools opening terms for the needy little ones.
The company itself has an open mandate of being an active contributor to the socio-economic development of the Kingdom of Eswatini and through various ideas and concepts, RSSC has lived to that mandate, to date.
What the employees said:
Vusi Mamba (Mhlume Factory)
“I am happy to be part of such an initiative, courtesy of RSSC. I learnt a lot of things today such as pouring my heart to the needy and also the art of painting. I would like to thank RSSC for the continuous efforts in ensuring that the underprivileged are taken care of especially in the neighbouring communities.”
Phila Mncina (Laboratory – Mhlume Factory)
“I am overwhelmed by the way I contributed in making sure that the children wake up to a good looking structure which is conducive for learning. Such activities will lead in us unitedly eradicating poverty as a nation and RSSC has always led by example in community development.”
